Important Information to Know

Your body knows how to heal itself; so don't keep touching the jewelry for no reason. Of course, getting an ear piercing, any piercing for that matter, is a big thing which requires commitment and responsibility. Which is why, it is essential to know basic rules or guidelines before you get a piercing done.
  • Find a certified piercer who has enough experience and uses hygienic tools.
  • Opt for the piercing to be done by hand rather than the gun.
  • The needle used for the piercing should be a one-use-only hollow, sterile needle.
  • Make sure you're not sick or down with something while getting the piercing.
  • Eat a healthy meal before you visit the piercer. You don't want to get a piercing on an empty stomach.
  • Choose a "beginning" jewelry so that once the piercing heals, you can get the perfect jewelry placed later on.
  • Be sure to ask about the entire procedure before you begin.
  • If you have any medical conditions, inform the piercer beforehand.
  • Take a friend along for the procedure. He/she will give you moral support.
  • Not all piercings get infected. So if yours does, speak to the piercer immediately.
  • Touch the jewelry only when you're cleaning it. Not any other time.
  • Follow all the aftercare instructions provided to you by the piercer.
  • Once the piercing has healed completely, go to your piercer to change the "beginning" jewelry.
  • If you feel that something is not right, don't hesitate to seek medical advice/help.
